Howe disappointed not to win at Watford

While the Cherries will probably look back at a good point at Watford when the dust has settled, Eddie Howe was in no mood to be satisfied with a draw immediately after the final whistle at Vicarage Road. To be disappointed at not winning at Watford is not a bad position to be coming from though, as a few weeks ago it was hard to see where the points would come.
Eddie Howe still wants more from his players.
Unbeaten in two games is a good platform for the Cherries going into the international break. Playing Watford would never be an easy game and while the Cherries got ahead twice they made some mistakes which is why Watford got back in. While there were negatives about the way Watford got themselves back into the game, it was not the Cherries doing the holding on for most of the game. They were positive and caused lots of problems for the Hornets with some powerful play and more of a drive to get forward once they had withstood the early pressure from Watford.

To be watching the game and feeling that it was difficult at times to know the home side was credit to the way AFCB played. The subs made a big difference with King and Success scoring, but Howe's first thoughts were perhaps not to lose by putting Dan Gosling on  to stop the side from getting overrun as legs tiered rather than gambling on bringing Afobe before Gosling. So perhaps AFCB had the opportunity to role the dice there and then. It was a period of the game when AFCB were on top and Jack Wilshire put a great chance wide after a cross ball from Smith left a half empty goal at Jack's mercy. It is that thin line between success and failure that prevented the three points, but I'd have been more disappointed if it was a home match. Man Utd were beaten at Vicarage Road - let's not forget that.

  1. Yes it looks like Wilson is getting back to his best and looks a handful...but yet again my pet theme is that its harder to lose your place in this team than to get in....we are leaking goals and Boruc is playing out of his skin to keep us in games...Daniels look exposed ..and is it not time for some changes at the back....Smith or Mings...I very much doubt injuries permitting there will be any changes for the next match...poor Lewis Cook....

For me the next few matches are critical to the season and whether we are going to lodge ourselves in midtable which would be a laudable achievement or a relegation scrap....the next few games are against teams around us ..Spurs apart and its essential we pick up some wins against the so called lesser teams and put some space between us and the bottom three..Hull is a must win for us..so will Sunderland....and if we can do that then maybe we will okay...but I still do not understand the transfer policy of buying all these players and they don't play....I think it will rebound on us eventually..who wants to come to the club not to play and will someone please explain why we do not play in Premiership U23 league...where it might give more quality opposition for these non players to play...

  2. I think we might see some changes after the break, like maybe a 3-5-2 setup with Mings in the back.
