Expectations are high for AFCB

Eddie Howe says that expectations are high among the players and the fans. I am not so sure the fans are fully sure that we are about to see a Cherries side that can challenge for a top 10 finish this season, but there are some significant pointers to say that this AFCB team might well be the highest finishing Bournemouth side in history.

That may sound a bit dramatic but a finish of 15th or better would achieve that. While I suspect the players and the club believe they can do better than a relegation scrap this season, it is not easy to pick up wins in the Premier League. A draw away at Watford would have been seen as a fantastic result only a year ago and now it appears that some don't value it as being any more than mediocre. Yes, AFCB had their bit of bad luck in hitting the woodwork a few times, but winning games has to become a habit if they are to challenge for a top 10 place.
AFCB have to start edging close games to push up the league.
There has been a restoration of confidence since the win against Everton and unlike the previous season, Dean Court is becoming a very difficult place for away teams to visit. If AFCB can put together a series of home wins and still manage to pick up some draw away from home they will be in a very strong position indeed come Christmas time. In interview it was made clear to Eddie that three wins were only achieved by early December last season and someone is keeping a score of what the Cherries are doing this time around. Well, nobody should count the points before they have been won, but I'd venture Eddie is looking to beat the five wins they had by Christmas last season.

There was not a massive amount wrong with the performance against Watford. If the Cherries had cut out a couple of opportunities for the Hornets to get the ball in the box they would have come away with all three points. Expectation is one thing, but proving it on the pitch is another. AFCB are working towards their aim though and a few more positive results will start to carry a few more fans over to the optimistic vision for this season.
