Junior nets in consecutive games

The Cherries knew that it would be a stubborn Burnley defence that they would need to turn and run at to make a breakthrough. In the first 24 minutes this was looking like a test that would need to catch the Burnley team unawares, as they defended very well. But one high-flighted ball from Lewis Cook gave Junior Stanislas the opportunity to go to work, and Junior is not shy at showing the fans what they could see more of, if he can have a bit better injury record next season.
Junior Stanislas is getting the goals towards the end of the season.
Stanislas is very much a player that has the quality that we just don't get to see that often. Yet, when he plays he is either creating goals for other or slotting them home himself. His take down on the chest for the opener against Burnley was just the moment of skill that the side needed to get itself in a position to go ahead. Junior knew he had to quickly strike at goal with Stephen Ward close by and with Heaton looking to cover his goal. The shot though was directed to bend just inside the bottom corner and beat Heaton's right hand down low.

The goal against Burnley follows up on the goal Junior hit against Stoke in the previous home match and it came as a surprise to me that this is the first time that Junior has scored in consecutive Premier League games. He has not managed to hold off all competition for his spot in the team, but it's mainly been through injury that he has lost his place in the past. I would like to see him have an injury-free season to see how many games he would start. I get the feeling that he is Eddie Howe's best crosser and free kick specialist, and we have to try and find ways to get him starting more games.

The good thing for AFCB is that when Stanislas has been out the team has seen the emergence of Ryan Fraser as a new star and his confidence is now as high as anyone's in the squad. Eddie Howe is also not worried about playing Stanislas or Fraser behind the central striker and the two players have a bright future on the south coast.

  1. Stanislas, Fraser and King are the bedrock of this team
