Keep the Chelsea and Spurs games in perspective

John Williams was correct when talking in BBC Solent's Reaction programme that the two games against the top two sides must be kept in perspective. It is hard to accept that your team has come up a long way short in a game, but each time they play Spurs and the like they will find out more about what makes them better.

Chelsea and Spurs were just too strong for AFCB.
There is always talk about there being separate divisions within the Premier League and the top seven would certainly be some way ahead of the other clubs. But the league has started to level out more than it has in the past. Even Southampton had a few worries that they could be drawn into a relegation scrap a few weeks ago.

Now the league is fairly well set and AFCB are not looking like they are safe yet. It is something that Eddie Howe has been repeatedly saying for a few weeks and while there is a seven point gap to Swansea it is somehow in the balance whether AFCB will beat what they achieved last season as they currently sit 16th again.

In the last two games, against Chelsea and Spurs, AFCB have faced the best and conceded seven goals while scoring one. It's probably what a lot of fans expected and yet it is important that the players and manager are not happy with that. Yes, these teams have bigger budgets and more experienced players. They also know how to win and we saw an excellent high-pressing game by Spurs that was basically a strangle hold on AFCB's players. I don't think Eddie Howe's teams have been put under pressure like that all season, and it's as well that they don't have to face that quality again now.

The Cherries have their own targets. It's not winning the league at this stage, it's about staying in it and AFCB's real tests are just about to come.

Other News - Jack Wilshere has a suspected broken left fibula and is expected to be out for the rest of the season, having broken his leg playing against Spurs last Saturday.

Harry Redknapp becomes Birmingham City manager and has a job on to keep them in the Championship.
